Why Laurel Tree

The Laurel Tree Academy is family owned and operated. We actively engage with families on a very personal level, because our center is not just our business, it’s our life!

In our own experience as parents, we found that the “chain store” daycare centers managed by large corporations were too impersonal and often experienced frequent staff turnover. With The Laurel Tree Academy, we wanted to be different and offer a better choice for families. We are actively involved and responsive to you and your child’s needs.

We implement research-based educational curriculums. Our unique “Here We Grow” curriculum uses S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Reading/Relationships, Engineering, Art & Music) components that are proven to enhance your child’s learning.

In addition, the High Scope® and Handwriting Without Tears® programs are also woven into our programming, giving your child a well-rounded and appropriate education.

We provide a safe and clean environment for your child, overseen by experienced teachers and staff. Access to the center is limited to parents and children only by electronic access codes. Our new center in Lumberton features state-of-the-art video surveillance.

We have health screenings multiple times a day, we use enhanced cleaning protocols, and provide touchless check-in and checkout. Laurel Tree Academy strictly adheres to local, state, and federal health guidelines, including those related to COVID-19. Read More >>>

All of our caregivers are extensively screened, fingerprinted and must submit to federal background checks. Additionally, they are selected based on their education, experience, character, background, attitude, and most importantly, their love of children. All of our teachers are degreed and/or certified and are required to complete up to 20 hours of professional education annually, including CPR and pediatric first aid.

At Laurel Tree Academy, you no longer have to wait until the end of the day for an update on your child. We will keep you posted throughout the day using the Brightwheel app, and share a real-time feed of your child’s activities.

Brightwheel delivers photos, videos, milestones, and important school notifications to your mobile device directly, helping you feel more connected and helping your peace of mind. Learn More About Brightwheel

Both of my children attended this school and loved it. I loved the fact that strangers were not able to enter the school without a staff member seeing them through the glass door and unlocking them and only allowing them entry after checking their license and checking them on file. Parents are given specific codes to type in that will keep track of your child as well as allow you to enter the school.

On a Friday we toured LTA, I went into labor that night. On our way home from the hospital that Monday we enrolled and have been a part of the LTA family ever since. Our 7 year old looks forward to returning for their exciting camp program every summer and our 2 year old is receiving the same excellent care we’ve come to know, love and trust over the years. Their staff is very attentive, caring, and readily available whenever you need them.

In looking for full-time childcare for our firstborn, we visited four centers and one home daycare, and so we saw a wide range of teachers, facilities, and attitudes towards infant care. What appealed most to us about LTA is that it is an independent center, rather than part of a big chain, where we felt that they would fit the kids’ needs, rather than making the kids fit into some generic mold.

“We cannot say enough great things about Laurel Tree Academy. Everyone there is great. From the office staff to the teachers. Everyone in the hall you pass is smiling and says hi – both staff, other students, and parents. It’s just a happy place. Our child always looks forward to going to school. Our child began going there at 2 and the transition was easy, and comfortable. It really only took our child one maybe two days to feel at home.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Laurel Tree and its teachers, staff and owners. They are truly the most caring people for the families who attend. Having three children go through Laurel Tree, one of the most important things to me is that I feel so comfortable with my kids attending and trust in their care. I know my kids are being taught to be kind and thoughtful, and that they are safe and loved every day at school.
