Danielle DeCillis: Assistant Director

Hello, my name is Danielle, but everyone calls me Dani. I always knew I wanted to work with children. When I started babysitting at the age of 13 years old, my first childcare job was at 16. They started me off in the Preschool classroom which was fun because you never know what is going to be said at that age. Preschool was a blast but when they moved me to the younger rooms, I knew that was where I was meant to be. I started off as an afternoon closer right after high school to an assistant in a very short time. After that a lead position opened and I took a swing at it and loved every second of it. Coming up with activities for these little ones to explore and learn was always great but seeing them understand what the activity was and how to do it was even better. After many years of teaching, I decided to ask if there was something more I could do for the school. At the time the school I was currently at was looking for a building closer and offered it to me. I loved the interaction with not only the kids during the day but also the parents at night when they came to pick up their kids. Then when I moved to Cherry Hill, I had to start it all over again. Work from the bottom all the way up to even further to Assistant Director. It was at this point when I married my husband in 2018 and only 2 years later had my daughter. In 2021 I was interviewed to be a teacher here at Laurel Tree Academy and just knew this was the place for me. Here I am now the Assistant Director and couldn’t love it more.
